As noted yesterday, when we are used, abused, and accused, it is generally not a pleasant experience. Still, when we do find ourselves experiencing such in this world, lifting the focus from merely ourselves to how even through those moments God can be glorified, let us press on with that purpose in mind.
Considering the first of these three today, though not simply allowing ourselves to be used as a floormat to be continually walked over, we do need to remain mindful of being used by God in those situations. When we do not respond in the same manner we have been treated, we reveal we are living different than the world. (i.e. Matthew 5:43-48) When we are used by others, seeking how God can use us in those situations can lead us to act (in accordance with our Christian character) rather than merely react.
In his letter to Christians at Philippi, Paul urged. . .
“(12) Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, (13) for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (14) Do all things without grumbling or disputing, (15) that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, (16) holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.” (Philippians 2:12-16 ESV)
Rather than it being an occasion to whine (God help me here), let it be our opportunity to shine! Allowing God to use us in whatever way He can in our life interactions will draw attention to the spirit of grace and mercy and love He has demonstrated toward us and which He desires us to extend toward others.
In whatever ways we are called upon to serve, let it not be as being merely done for humanity, but as serving the Lord. (Colossians 3:23-24) May we keep this in mind as it provides a much higher focus and glory when being used in this life!
Have a great day EXPERIENCING BEING USED AS OPPORTUNITY TO SHINE TO GOD’S GLORY!
