The weather changes. Some days the sun shines brightly while other days there are clouds obscuring its rays. Even during a single day the weather can change from calm to breezy or from dry to wet or sunny to cloudy. It has even been said, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes.” And thus marks the changing of the weather. That’s just what it does. It changes. It is not always the same. So, we wait out the storms knowing that different weather will eventually come.
The same is true about life as the moments of it can vary greatly. As we look back on our life, we recognize things change and we should also acknowledge that to this point we have made it through each day no matter how dark it might have been. Can we then not trust in the present as we embrace each day and work through it as it is? Or, even on the sunny days, have we found ourselves fretting over the possibility of stormy days ahead?
Someone has said, “Worry pulls tomorrow’s clouds over today’s sunshine.” What good has worry ever done for us? What benefit has it ever provided?
While addressing the subject of anxiousness and directing the focus toward faith (Matthew 6:25-34), Jesus asked. . .
“(27) And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:27 ESV)
Anxiousness or worry does not add anything but rather detracts from life. Rather than a contributor, it is a drainer of life energy and zeal. Instead, we ought to continue trusting the One Who has brought us this far in life. Remember, even on cloudy days — though veiled at the time — the sun continues shining. It is the same with the shining favor of the Son of God as we trust in His promises while trustingly pressing on through each day we have been given. Let us walk through each day with an awareness of the blessing that remains ours while walking in His light; the continued blessing that is ours because of Him! (John 8:12; 1 John 1:7) Despite life’s varied moments, remembering the constancy of Jesus (Hebrews 13:8), may we keep our constant trust in Him!
Have a great day WITH LIFE BRIGHTENED BY THE LIGHT THAT SHINES ON!
