Did you see that dance challenge on Tik Tok? Did you see the wins/fails for February on YouTube? Do you believe everything you see on social media?
Did you know there are over 20 social media platforms? It is very easy to post anything you want without it needing to be true or accurate. Also, what is posted doesn’t have to be safe. As a Christian, we need to make sure what we are watching and reading is a from a trustworthy site and is it something Jesus would approve.
Ephesians 5:15-17 (ESV) – “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
So we need to make sure what we see and read does not tempt us to sin and give Satan a chance to mislead us. 1 Peter 5:8-9 (ESV) says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.”

Also, when we post we need to make sure we are being truthful, encouraging, and loving: “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” Hebrews 3:13 (NIV).
Also consider Ephesians 4:29 (NIV): “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
Remember, whatever you post electronically is ALWAYS out there to be seen or found even if deleted. There have been several prominent people that have been surprised when a deleted post appears (even years later) causing serious harm to their reputation.
When posting we need to have the wisdom seen in James 3:2-10 (ESV): “For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.”
