There are things in the lives of others that are not within our power to completely lift from them or change. However, what we can do in such cases is to agree to come walk beside them. Joining them on their journey to encourage and support can make a dynamic difference in compelling their continued forward motion in life.
As Solomon stated. . .
“(9) Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. (10) For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ESV)
I have frequently encouraged others that success comes by getting up one more time than you have fallen. Though some falling may have greater consequences to move through or from than others, getting back up is the need for us all. (i.e. Romans 3:23) Having another willing to come alongside to walk with provides encouragement to not give up, but instead get back up to continue moving forward regardless of what may have been the cause of falling.
In Amos we read. . .
“(3) Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?” (Amos 3:3)
I have made such an agreement with others. Acknowledging the reality of not knowing all that may be experienced on the journey ahead nor its duration, I have assured others of my willingness to walk the pathway with them to encourage their movement from the mistakes of the past to walking the pathway of God.
Let us agree to come alongside others to walk together, recognizing there will be encouraging benefit both ways; for them and for us. To have such mindfulness of one another is to share the mind of Christ who walked the path to the cross on our behalf. (Philippians 2:4-8) We need and we are needed. May we therefore be willing to come alongside others to encouragingly walk on toward the Heavenly goal!
Have a great day ENCOURAGINGLY JOINING THE JOURNEY WITH OTHERS!
Carl
