Where we allow the look to linger. Where we allow the focus to fixate. Where we allow our concentration to become centered. That is what most impacts our life perspective. Despite anything else that may be real, the direction our eyes are most drawn toward is what can become our reality and have the most impact on how we feel about and picture life.
Someone has noted:
“Look around you and be distressed.
Look within you and be depressed.
Look to Jesus and be at rest.”
So, where are we looking? Yes, there are and will continue to be challenges and struggles in this life. There will be experiences that are not good in and of themselves. However, let us be encouraged that is not the full picture as we look to Jesus and the assurance He brings to life presently and eternally.
As Jesus encouraged His disciples the night prior to His arrest in the garden, He urged. . .
“(1)Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1 ESV)
And. . .
“(27) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27 ESV)
Regardless of what may be going on around us, let us continue to believe and look to Jesus for the lasting peace only He can provide. That is not found in looking to ourselves or to the world, but only in looking to Him! It is a peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7) and the key to maintaining this blessing is the lifting of the focus in prayer (Philippians 4:6) to the One Who is fully able to work all things together for good. (Romans 8:28) Therefore, may we trust in the Lord and His assurance to bring us through the varied things of this life and into the eternity He has prepared for us.
Have a great day RESTING LIFE’S FOCUS IN JESUS!
Carl
