The Word of God needs to be taken. But taken where? What direction is the Word of God to be taken to provide the direction He intends?
First, God’s Word needs to be taken into our own heart. We are to spend time regularly reading, studying, meditating, and listening to the Word. It needs to abide in us to be carried with us to provide ongoing guidance and support.
As one of the psalmists expressed. . .
“(9) How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. (10) With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! (11) I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:9-11 ESV)
Regardless of whether we are young or old or somewhere in between, God’s Word needs to be taken to heart — stored up within us — so that by its abiding presence our life will naturally be directed in accordance with His Will. The transformation of our life in accord with the will of God begins with the renewal of our mind. (Romans 12:2) May we remain open to our heart being brought under the power of God’s Word so that we will be duly directed to live as He would have us and then be prepared to take His Word to the world!
Have a great day CONTINUING TO TAKE IN GOD’S WORD!
