As we noted yesterday, the Word of God needs to be taken. But taken where? It is first of all to be personally taken in within ourselves; into our heart and mind so as to properly direct our own life. Having taken God’s Word to heart we are then prepared to take it to the world. Let us consider one of the ways of doing so today, and — Lord Willing — we will note another tomorrow.
As we have taken the Word of God into our heart and mind, the actions of our life are transformed to reflect God’s Will. Therefore, one way we take God’s Word to the world is by exemplifying it in our daily life. As we step into each day, God’s Word ought to be evident in how we live in accordance with His Wisdom rather than being conformed by the world around us. (i.e. Romans 12:2)
Jesus noted the manner in which our life is to be a great influence in this realm in stating. . .
“(14) You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. (16) In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 ESV)
Light simply does what light does. With the light of God’s truth within us, our daily life will illuminate His wisdom through the godly actions and good works we do as we go about each day.
Peter also urged. . .
“(12) Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” (1 Peter 2:12 ESV)
With God’s Word influencing our life from within, let God being glorified be the reason for all we do! (i.e. 1 Corinthians 10:31) May our daily life exemplify His desires and Sovereign Will so that we will be the light we have been called to be in this dark world!
Have a great day BEING LIGHT BY LIVING GOD’S WORD!
