“In one ear and out the other.” “That went right over their head.” “Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall.” “They just turn a deaf ear.” Such reflects words being spoken but not received or retained.
As Jesus taught lessons in need of being taken to heart, some hearts were too hard to receive and so it was as if the words fell on deaf ears. Consider how Luke presented an account of Jesus’ teaching where we read. . .
“(27) But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, (28) bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” (Luke 6:27-28 ESV)
What Jesus taught brought benefit to “you who hear”. Am I listening? Am I taking to heart His teaching? Am I wholeheartedly accepting the Heavenly calling to “Listen to him”? (Matthew 17:5; Luke 9:35) Are you?
Lord, help me to be the kind of listener I need to be! In this way, every blessed word You have spoken will bring me the blessing for which You spoke them. May my life be duly impacted daily by Your words that are life (John 6:63) and words of eternal life (John 6:68) that I may live the life you desire presently as I trust you for life eternally!
Have a great day WITH HIS WORDS TAKEN TO HEART AND TRANSLATED INTO GODLY LIVING!
